March 16th, 1966, saw Paul Van Doren open Vans’ flagship store in sunny California; on that first morning, 12 customers purchased shoes, which were made that day and ready for pick-up in the afternoon. Since these humble beginnings, Vans has evolved into a global purveyor of streetwear, becoming world-renowned for signature staples such as the Authentic, the Sk8-Hi and the Slip-On.
