Footpatrol visits the Diadora 'Made in Italy' Factory | Feature

Whilst we were away creating our film that explores coffee's place within wider Italian culture, whilst comparing the process of handmade footwear it was only right that we went to Diadora's famous 'Made in Italy' Factory!

Diadora’s ‘Made in Italy’ product is produced in Caeino Di San Marco, at a factory that sees a mere 12 people handling production. The factory is a single open plan room with a designated route that guides the manufacture process. Piles of fabric line the outer perimeter of the space, with clunking machinery spotted throughout. Each piece of machinery is manned by a worker, Italian pride is ever present from stickers baring the famed ‘il Tricolore’ flag to worker’s clothing baring the country’s name.

Maintaining a truly hands on approach to the manufacturing process of the ‘Made in Italy’ product, each section of production is handled by a different member of the team, from stitching uppers to the gluing of the outsole. The factory workers are a family, some members of the team residing for over 40 years.
